Driving directions and tips
Drive carefully - a lot of moose is migrating along the major roads because of snow in the forests!
Here are some driving directions for those of you not familiar with the
direction.
South of Oslo:
- Follow E6 or E18 northbound to Oslo (see below).
From Oslo:
- There is an automated toll road system (Autopass) around south of Oslo, around Oslo, and between Oslo and Hamar *)
- Follow E 6 nothbound (direction Hamar/Trondheim)
- Continue E 6 north pass Hamar (120 kms from Oslo) and Lillehammer
(186 kms from Oslo)
- In Otta (295 kms from Oslo) turn left into national
road 15
- Follow 15 to the roundabout just before
Vågåmo (325 kms / 4 - 4.5 hrs from Oslo)
- to Smedsmo - take left and you will end up in a new roundabout at Smedsmo
- to the hotel - continue straight ahead/right

It is strongly reccomended to follow
E6 and road 15 as described above, the route planners and GPS might show
alternative roads, but they may be winter closed or not suitable with
a trailer!

In Vågå:
- To the hotel: Continue straight ahead in the roundabout just before the village. The hotel is located next
to the road on your right hand side just after you arrive in the village, (opposite the Statoil gas station by the bridge)
- To Smedsmo camping:Take left in the roundabout before the village.
Smedsmo camping is located on your right side next to
Shell gas-station as you enter the second roundabout (take right)
- Arriving on Friday: place your trailer on Smedsmo or at the Hotel.
- Arriving on Saturday: Trailers to be parked and secured on the ice until 17:00
By coach / train
Coach service 148
Gudbrandsdalekspressen / 147 Nordfjordekspressen from Oslo/Oslo airport via the airport to Vågåmo.
Route 147 stop at Smedsmo only, route 148 also next to the Hotel.
Alternative
is train from Oslo/Oslo airport to Otta and arrange for someone to pick you up at Otta. The bus-stop in Vågå is next to the hotel (route 148), route 147 only call at Smedsmo.
