Vågå Wave Camp |

OperationalColour MarkingAll gliders must for safety reasons have orange fluorescent markings on the nose, the leading edge of the wings, the undercarriage doors and other suitable spots. Orange foil can be bought at the camp for NOK 300 per glider. However it is recommend to do this at home if possible, sometimes it is hard to get it neat in the windy and cold weather on Vågå. More information and pictures... Tie-down
On the ice all the trailers and gliders are secured to the ice with at least three ropes each. You drill holes in the ice and tie the rope to a wooden stick (tree branch), put the stick underneath the hole like a hook.
Put the airbrakes in the open position when the glider is
parked but not tied down between flights. Damage caused by equipment
not adequately tied down, will be charged to the owner of the
inadequately tied down equipment. Tow PlanesLN-TAU, LN-DFK and LN-EIC will operate as tow-planes. The tow pilot and ground station will log all take-offs including glider registration, the glider pilot's name and number and release altitude. Runway
Take-off and AerotowAll handsignal (tighten rope etc.) must follow Norewgian standard. On release the glider must turn left, the tug will turn right. Aerotows will occur with minimum noise exposure in mind. Consider the avian fauna by the Blåhø mast, skiers in hills and mountains and populated areas. Aerotows over the ridge will be avoided due to the collision risk. The towplanes will descend where the glider density is the lowest. Landing
Communication
AirspaceThe airspace above Vågå is uncontrolled (G-airspace) up to FL 135. When flying above FL 135 a clearance from Oslo CTR is required. We have been assigned Vågå glider area ranging from FL 135 to FL 280 which can be extended upwards if needed. The horizontal borders are given by the coordinates 6200N 0820E, 6200N 0930E, 6130N 0940E, 6130N 0845E. The area is drawn on a map which is available at the briefing and the launch point. The agreement with Oslo CTR in its entirety can be found at the briefing room. The glider area will be opened and closed by ground control every day. Message about opening and closing will be broadcasted on 122.17MHz.
Inform Vågå ground at 122.17MHz when you intend to enter or leave the glider area. The glider pilot is to listen to 122.17MHz at all times when in the glider area. If contact with Vågå ground is lost, Oslo CTR must be contacted immediately at 118.82MHz. Alternatively Bodø CTR can be contacted at 125.70MHz. In case of radio failure, the glider must descend below FL 135 without delay. Emergencies shall be reported at working frequency first, then if possible at the emergency frequency. Positional ReportingEntering or leaving the glider area must be reported to Vågå ground. If flying away from Vågå or far from populated areas, this should be reported to Vågå ground as well at 122.17MHz. Alternatively this can be relayed to another aircraft. If a glider lands away from Vågå, the position must be reported by radio or phone as soon as possible. ThermallingWithin a radius of 5 km from Vågå, all thermalling turns are to be to the left. Other airfieldsNearby airfields that might be used as an alternate ladning area.
2) ENOP: glider and parachute activity 3) Runway conditions uncertain due to snow, more information will be given on briefing. |
